Things are going great!

2012 was a strange year in many ways. There were some ups and downs and I got injured a few times which normally never happens to me. But in the end things turned out great with a second AG title in Kona and more balance in my life in general. 2013 promises to be a ‘grand cru’ year. Training feels great and my life couldn’t be better.
The major focus this year will be on the race in Kona of course, were I hope to be amongst the best of the ‘working class’ athletes again. A 3rd title would be great, but as usual, there will be some tough competition. Anyway, it is still more than 8 months away and there are some plans to fill up the gap in between.
No training camps in sunny places for me. Instead I enjoy spending time off in Nova Scotia with my girlfriend and train mainly indoors. Indoor training is very effective so I don’t mind at all. I even started to love it 😉
The first race of the year will be the Boston marathon where I will be a pacing bunny for some friends and run an easy 3 hours marathon (my first ever). Later some races in Europe are on the list with a duathlon in Douai (France) and a half IM distance in Troyes (France). In the summer I will race in Canada again: Epic Dartmouth on Canada day weekend and IM Mont Tremblant in August. And then there is (hopefully) the cherry on the cake a few weeks later in Kona.
That’s the plan for now and I look forward to it!
